In our commitment to the environment and with inspiration from Virginia Mushroom Hunters, we've decided to reward those who help us take care of our great outdoors. We're excited to announce the "Trash-to-Treasure Giveaway"

Here's how it works:

 IN MARCH Get outdoors in Alabama and explore the wonderful world of mushrooms, all while helping clean up our environment! Bring along a trash bag, and when you find litter, pick it up.

Take ONE photo of all the trash you've collected WITH yourself AND a mushroom you found in the photo. Any mushroom!

Post your ONE photo in the comments on THIS post on Facebook or on our Instagram that includes you the trash a mushroom. You can enter here and on Instagram each ONCE per person, but have to collect two different bags of trash and take two different photos!

This contest is open to anyone in Alabama, not just paid AMS members. We will draw three winners at random at our April AMS meeting April 2nd. The first place winner will receive a copy of our Edible Wild Mushroom Foraging and Identification book and some extra mushroom-themed surprises! Second and third place winners will win a combination of some foraging gear and related surprises!

Don't worry if you don't collect the most - every participant who posts a photo following the guidelines will be entered into the drawing to win some sweet AMS myco swag!

We will announce the winners on April 2nd. This is a chance to do some good for Mother Nature, help preserve our beloved mushroom habitats, and potentially win some fantastic prizes!

Remember, every piece of trash removed from our environment is a victory. Let's show our love for Alabama's woods and our passion for mycology by leaving no trace (except mushroom spores) behind!
